The Sims 4 has released another patch to fix more bugs that players have been experiencing, including ‘Groundhog Day’.
Following July’s base game update that coincided with High School Years, Simmers have reported a variety of different glitches in the game. We’ve already had two patches since then: the first arrived in early August, while the second was rolled out two weeks ago.
This newest update, which can be downloaded right now, addresses the infamous ‘Groundhog Day’ bug as well as another ageing issue.

The ‘Groundhog Day’ bug causes the game to not save properly – resulting in Simmers, when they reload, finding that their progress has been reset.
As an example, one of the first people to report the bug recalled playing from Tuesday to Sunday in-game and seeing a baby ageing into a toddler. After exiting the Manage Worlds and Create-a-Sim screens, they found the day was back to Tuesday and the toddler was a baby again.
It seems to be an increasingly widespread problem, and more prevalent in games that use mods.
The team stated via Twitter that they believe this new patch will resolve the issue, recommending players, before installing the update, to remove any mods and custom content.

The update is 227.05 MB in size, with the full patch notes available here.
On the ‘Groundhog Day’ bug, the team confirmed it was related to High School Years‘ thrift shop.
“It turns out that some mods were preventing the game from saving,” they said. “We’ve made the store more accommodating to external content. We have seen some of you who do not play with mods reporting this problem. If you continue to encounter the issue, please let us know on AnswersHQ.”
And regarding ageing, the patch notes read: “Children, teens, young adults, and adult Sims who blow out the candles on their cake now should age up reliably. Happy birthday!
“We still are investigating the problem for toddlers.”
The game recently saw the release of First Fits Kit, with Desert Luxe Kit coming tomorrow (September 14).
The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
