Niantic announced a new AR title based on the iconic Marvel Universe

Marvel Entertainment and Niantic are working together to produce MARVEL World of Heroes. It was announced today during the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase at Disney’s D23 Expo 2022. In 2023, the entire world will be introduced to MARVEL World of Heroes, a mobile AR game that brings the well-known Marvel Universe into the real world.

Create your own superhero identity in MARVEL World of Heroes

Innovating by bringing gaming into the real world as only Niantic games can, Marvel World of Heroes is the first Marvel game where players can create their own individual Marvel superhero. Players, their friends, and their famous Marvel superhero teammates face off against Marvel Super Villains and interdimensional dangers in this social gaming experience.

Players in this game can design their own special Super Hero persona and backstory. In order to stop crimes, finish Super Hero missions, and thwart interdimensional threats, players will need to patrol their local areas. As they advance in levels, players can gain new tools and skills, join forces with Marvel Super Heroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, and others to take on infamous Super Villains, and defend the Multiverse from cosmic and terrestrial dangers.

Niantic builds augmented reality technology that powers the real-world metaverse. Their Lightship platform is the world’s first scaled AR platform, enabling developers around the world to create sophisticated AR experiences for phones and eventually AR glasses. Lightship is also the foundation for Niantic’s hit games, including Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Ingress. For additional details and pre-registration players can visit the official website.
