Activision unveiled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer this morning and I have to say, this is the most excited I’ve been about a Call of Duty multiplayer in some time. With very deep integration into Warzone 2 (more on that here), this is an upgraded Call of Duty experience.
As far as big changes to the core mechanics, the game will have swimming and aquatic combat with you able to both swim and fire sidearms under water. You’re also able to hang off ledges as well as slide or dive to the floor making absolutely nowhere safe.
One of the largest new modes is a brand new third-person playlist. This will let you play certain modes/playlists in third mode with the camera set a few feet behind the right shoulder of your operator. As of this moment, Activision says that first person and third person modes will remain seperate, but this could change in the future.
Other new modes include the below:
- Knockout: Takes elements from 2v2 Gunfight and final circle within Warzone
Prisoner Rescue: A mode made with innovations to the equipment in mind and with “breach and siege” gameplay front and center
- Invasion (Ground War): This is war. A massive and chaotic 20v20 battle with a mix of player and AI fighting alongside each other and against each time. Earn points by eliminating the AI and human enemies with Loadout items, vehicles, Killstreaks, and UAV or Counter-UAV assistance.
- Raids: A new co-op experience that will be coming after launch and will provide a three-player co-operative experience that involves puzzle solving, team work and intense bouts of combat.
- Special Ops: is back to bring another campaign co-op experience.
The Call of Duty beta starts this weekend but is broken into waves across those who pre-order and different platforms. If you’re looking to get into the COD: MW2 beta early, we’re giving away codes HERE.
