Everything to Know Before the Season 3 Premiere

The Summer 2022 anime season is in its final stretch, and by this point, it’s clear that it was merely mediocre compared to stronger seasons such as Fall 2021 and Winter 2022, though it did have highlights such as Overlord‘s fourth season and even Engage Kiss. However, the Fall 2022 anime season promises to be much more exciting, with plenty of returning titles such as Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!.

This is a charming, colorful isekai anime series that dodges many isekai tropes such as the OP self-insert hero, convenient harems and the like. Iruma-kun! is more like a Western cartoon, featuring lovable characters with strong personalities, a stylish demonic setting, plenty of great humor and some creative action sequences. Anime fans should definitely brush up on the Iruma-kun! anime so they can dive right in when the third season airs this October.

The Story & Characters of Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!

Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun! stars the meek but kind protagonist Iruma Suzuki — a hardworking, humble boy whose selfish parents sold him to the demon lord Sullivan for cash. This is how Iruma ended up in the vast demonic Netherworld, but fortunately for him, this is a relatively tame underworld — a realm of wacky demons and peace rather than true Hell. Best of all, Iruma’s owner Sullivan is now his kind-hearted foster grandfather, who is happy to spoil Iruma and protect him from all the other demons. In that sense, the helpless Iruma lucked out, but there’s a catch. Iruma, as a 14-year-old boy, must attend school, and he is now enrolled at Babyls, a school for young demons of all shapes and sizes. Even with a demonic disguise, Iruma is surrounded by danger every day, but over time, he’ll get used to it and even make a name here for himself.

Iruma wishes to blend in and not draw attention to himself, but he can’t help getting into trouble anyway and stealing the spotlight. He soon befriended the obnoxious but friendly troublemaker Valac Clara, a green-haired demon girl, and then he befriended the aristocratic, fire-slinging Asmodeus Alice, a model student, and this trio really stands out at Babyls. Time and again, Iruma unwittingly took center stage with his Ring of Solomon’s arcane power or by getting dragged into fights, much to his teacher Naberious Kalego’s annoyance.

More recently, in Season 2, Iruma overcame all-new challenges and truly grew as a person. He heroically saved the day in the Walter Park theme park when his villainous classmate Kiriwo made his move. Kiriwo once acted like Iruma’s friend, but this boy actually serves the wicked demon Baal, who is sure to make another move in the upcoming Season 3. Meanwhile, Iruma and his smart, beautiful classmate Azazel Ameri grew much closer, and Iruma even awakened his own “evil” form — a more cocky and assertive version of himself.

Finally, Iruma and his classmates of the delinquent class must strive to reach rank 4 at all costs this year, or else forever lose the privilege of using the luxurious Royal One classroom for all time. Iruma Suzuki has plenty on his plate by now, from this promotion challenge to his many friendships and his growing reputation as a hero, and there’s even a prophecy suggesting that he may become the new demon king some day. Poor Iruma just wanted a quiet, anonymous life in the Netherworld, but now he’s at the center of everything, like it or not, and there’s no way out. Iruma must rise as a zero-turned-demonic hero in Season 3, or his fate is sealed.
