Last week, we were a bit swept up in all of that Suikoden news from Konami, weren’t we? However, the series’ spiritual successor also got its own time in the spotlight during the Tokyo Game Show too. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes got a brand new trailer, and this is the most detailed look we’ve seen of the upcoming turn-based RPG.
This brand-new trailer expands on the one we got during Gamescom in August, and it looks gorgeous. This is also the first trailer to show us the game’s voice acting, which was actually a stretch goal during the game’s Kickstarter campaign. And while we were hoping for a more concrete release date, we’re still happy to see the game is on-track for 2023.
Main character Nowa is voiced by Gakuto Kajiwara, famous for the role of Asta in Black Clover and Swin Abel in The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. Seign — who we’re getting serious Jowy from Suikoden II vibes from — is portrayed by Kenji Akabane, who is the voice of the Producer in The Idolmaster anime, and plays Akira in the Japanese dub for Live A Live. Marisa will be voiced by singer Sumire Uesaka, who is NEO: The World Ends with You’s Kanon Tachibana.
Other than the great Japanese voice acting, we also got a look at the game’s stunning 2.5D visuals, which use high-definition pixel art against 3D backgrounds. With Nowa running through city streets, and combat scenes on display, the game is looking crisp and sharp.
Those with a love for collecting heroes and building an army have a lot to look forward to on Switch with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification both coming out next year.
What do you think of this new trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle? Will you be picking this up on Switch? Let us know in the comments!
