While it’s already available on PC Game Pass, the vanilla Xbox Game Pass service will be treated to one of 2022’s highest-rated games next month.
NORCO, one of 2022’s highest-rated new video game releases, will be coming to Xbox Game Pass next month. NORCO is a critically-acclaimed point-and-click adventure game that released earlier this year for PC. When it launched on PC, NORCO was a day one PC Game Pass game, but soon Xbox console gamers will be able to see what all the fuss is about. And not only is NORCO joining the vanilla Xbox Game Pass lineup, but it’s also coming to PlayStation consoles as well.
NORCO will be hitting vanilla Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and Xbox Series X on October 20. That same day, versions of the game will be made available for PS4 and PS5 consoles. While those on PlayStation won’t be able to play NORCO through a subscription service like Xbox gamers can, the game may still be worth checking out, especially for fans of the point-and-click adventure game genre.
In NORCO, players take on the role of Kay, who returns to her hometown of Norco, Louisiana after her mother’s death. The game is set in the far future, combining noir and cyberpunk elements to create an interesting game world full of augmented humans, androids, cults, and mysteries to solve. While there is certainly serious subject matter, NORCO is also notable for having a sharp wit and strong sense of humor, which helps make it consistently entertaining from start to finish. NORCO is also fairly short, so those interested can pop in and complete it without committing too much time to the game.
For those unfamiliar with the game’s critical reception, NORCO earned rave reviews when it first launched, with praise for its music, story, and its clever twists on traditional point-and-click adventure game features. It currently has a 90 overall critic rating according to review aggregate site OpenCritic, which makes it the third-highest rated game of the year at the time of this writing. The only games ahead of it are puzzle game Freshly Frosted, which has a 91 rating, and FromSoftware’s open world action-RPG epic Elden Ring. Elden Ring is the highest-rated game of the year so far, with an impressive 95 rating.
NORCO will just be the latest highly-rated 2022 game to hit Xbox Game Pass when it joins the lineup on October 20. Recently, Sam Barlow’s Immortality was added to Xbox Game Pass as a day one game, with it too receiving rave reviews from critics.
