3 Overseas Players Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Can Target In IPL 2023 Auction

KKR finished seventh in IPL 2022 after playing the final in IPL 2021. The franchise appointed a new captain and took a whole season to understand the team combination. The side lost 8 games and won six in the previous campaign.

Meanwhile, as per reports in Inside Sport, the IPL 2023 trading window could open as early as November 2022, with the mini-auction of IPL 2023, probably being held in January or February.

“We are looking at December-January or early February for the auctions. Before that, the trade window will be back this time. The trade window will open around November or early December depending on the final auction date. It will be a short auction as we had the big one last season. The last auction was the major one and the next three will be mini auctions as the teams want to develop the squads,” the BCCI official said.

Both Indian and overseas players are expected to be traded in the window. Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at three overseas players KKR can target in the IPL 2023 auction.

Smith can be an ideal foil to Eoin Morgan who led the side to the final in IPL 2021. The former Australian skipper has enough experience of playing in the IPL. He has led teams in the past as well. With a player like Smith in their ranks, regular skipper Shreyas Iyer can also play with a lot of freedom. Smith also can be a backup option to lead the side. He can reunite with Aaron Finch at KKR and together can be a big asset for the side.
