12 Anime Like Classroom of The Elite With Overpowered Hero

Published on September 16th, 2022

“Classroom of the Elite” or “Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e” is an anime that started airing in the Summer Season of 2017. It is animated by the animation Studio “Lerche”, whose other famous anime TV projects include “Assassination Classroom”, “Astra Lost in Space”, “Given” and “Scum’s Wish”.

It is a drama-mystery anime that takes place in a world where students are selected from around Japan for “Koudo Ikusei Senior High School.” This high school provides students with every basic amenity without any work, so it is a utopia for every student. But everything that shines is not gold, as all students are divided into four classes based on their caliber, and the top class out of them all gets to stay at the school.

Ayanokoji is a teenager who gets admitted to the lowest ranked class. He meets a girl, who is his classmate, named “Horokita”, who wants to ascend to the top class, just to get her brother’s place, who is the Student Council President of the School.

All classes are given exams and tasks that they have to complete, and by these tasks, they are ranked and given funds. The bizarre factor about this anime is our protagonist Ayanokoji, who, for some reason likes to stay low without making it into the spotlight. Although he has the potential to be a top student, he uses other students as “Tools” to get his work done and also make them happy. This anime series has a pretty good mystery factor, betrayal, hatred, and many other dark aspects.

Here are 15 anime like Classroom of the Elite, where the hero is overpowered. Some of them might contain protagonists who hide their abilities (just like Ayanokoji) and some will contain just your run-of-the-mill overpowered protagonists. And most anime here will be “Isekai” (transported to another world) as overpowered protagonists are mostly present in this genre.

1. Death Note

Death Note is an old-day classic anime that is mostly recommended to beginners because it is slow and easy to digest, but still, a masterpiece nonetheless.

It follows the story of Light Yagami, a teenage boy who lives in a world where crime prevails and is sick of all of it. One day, when he is looking out of his school window, he sees a book dropping from the plain sky. After class, he goes down to look at the book and, it is titled “Death Note.”

Out of curiosity, he takes the book home and writes the name of a random criminal in it. Suddenly, that criminal is shown dead on TV news, and in front of Light emerges Ryuk, the death God, who gave him the Death Note. Light decides to eradicate crime from the world under his nickname “Kira.”

But soon, the famous detective “L” starts to track Kira’s killings and starts the race to find the vigilante Kira as it kills criminals relentlessly. This anime has a pretty unique premise, considering the time it aired. The way Light deals with people shows how overpowered and ruthless he is. Death Note was also one of the breakthrough roles of the voice actor “Mamoru Miyano” (Famous Roles: “Benimaru” from Fire Force, “Tsukiyama” from “Tokyo Ghoul”), who voiced the protagonist “Light.”
