While some of these characters warrant negative public reactions, most of them are simply the victims of unfortunate circumstances.

For some, their attitudes and personalities irritate people, while others are despised for what they represent. Additionally, some of these characters are only hated by their families and peers, while others incur the wrath of the public. Satoru Gojo is the most gifted Sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen. Unfortunately, he has the self-importance and cockiness to match his great power. While many characters in the world recognize Gojo’s prowess, they are also tired of his constant antics.

Many people would argue that self-confidence is a good thing, but Gojo takes it to the next level. He feels so secure in his skills that he views everyone else as inferior. Gojo may have immense power, but it is no reason for him to not have humility.

Arthur Boyle is one of the newest members of Company 8 in Fire Force. Despite his combat skills and Third Generation Pyrokinetic powers, Arthur is not the brightest bulb in the drawer. His ignorance is the cause of constant strife for his colleagues. Yet one of his most reviled qualities is his belief that he is a real knight.

Although Shinra and others have constantly told him that he is not a knight, Arthur refuses to believe them. To add to the annoyance, Arthur can only reach his full potential if he treats himself and the situation as if he were a real knight. People both in the show and in real life are growing tired of Arthur’s knight persona.

7 Ryuuji Takasu Has A Terrifying Face (Toradora!)

Ryuuji Takasu is an average high school boy, except that he has a terrifying face. Although he never met him, Ryuuji is haunted by his dad’s legacy, since his father used to dabble in criminal activity. Therefore, many of his peers assume Ryuuji takes after his father based on his face alone in the show, Toradora!

However, Ryuuji’s personality could not be further from his father’s. Ryuuji is kind and responsible. He would do anything for his friends, and his deepest wish is to fall in love. Ryuuji is one example of a character not deserving of the fear and dislike he garners.

Kenji Harima was never known for his good deeds in School Rumble. But when he saves the girl he likes from a band of thugs, he never expected to become more despised for his actions. Despite rescuing Tenma Tsukamoto, she instead mistakes him for an attacker, tarnishing his reputation even further and ruining his chances of being with her.

Even with this setback, Harima does everything in his power to show Tenma how much he cares for her, even when her affections are otherwise occupied. Although he may not have been the best student, Harima is a good guy who just can’t seem to catch a break.

When Naofumi Iwatani is summoned as a hero in The Rising of the Shield Hero, he is initially excited. That is until he is falsely accused of a crime by Malty S Malromarc. Despite his claims of innocence, Naofumi is shunned by society, becoming destitute and alone.

Though he later manages to reclaim his innocence and rejoins the community, Naofumi has a hard time trusting people. The betrayal left a mark not only on his reputation but on his psyche.

4 Katsuki Bakugo’s Poor Attitude Hurts His Heroic Image (My Hero Academia)

Katsuki Bakugo has always been good at almost everything he does in My Hero Academia. Because of this, he develops an overly cocky attitude and has little patience for those who are not as talented as him. Unfortunately, Bakugo’s poor attitude bleeds into his hero work and costs him his first attempt at getting a hero license.

Though many have tried to intervene on Bakugo’s behalf, the only one who has seemed to get through to him is All Might. His comment to both Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya about saving others to win starts to change Bakugo’s mindset for the better. There is no arguing that he is a great hero, but Bakugo’s bad attitude makes him insufferable to be around.

3 Shoya Ishida Was A Bully In His Youth (A Silent Voice)

In A Silent Voice, Shoya Ishida’s troubles started when he was in elementary school. Shoko Nishimiya is a new student in Shoya’s class. However, she is deaf and communicates through a notebook in which she asks the other students to write. This, for whatever reason, annoys Shoya, and he and many others begin bullying Shoko endlessly.

At one point, Shoya even breaks Shoko’s hearing aid multiple times. In the end, she is forced to transfer schools. However, as soon as Shoko leaves, everyone turns on Shoya and blames him for most of the bullying. Shoya becomes an outcast among his peers until he runs into Shoko again when they are teens.

Kyo Sohma is the most ostracized member of the Sohma family in Fruits Basket. Although he is one of thirteen Sohmas with a curse, he is the Cat, the most hated of the zodiac. He is despised by nearly everyone in his family but especially by his father and his cousin Yuki.

This disdain negatively affects Naruto as he’s growing up. However, despite everyone’s fears, Naruto hopes to be Hokage one day and works hard to achieve his goal. Although he faces many obstacles, Naruto overcomes the everyone’s negative perceptions of him to become a truly great Shinobi.
